Designed by renowned engineer Giuseppe Gabrielli, it was characterized by an aerodynamic arrow wing layout and compact dimensions that ensured significant maneuverability in flight. Its good performance allowed the G-91 to win the NATO competition to identify a tactical support aircraft that was easy to manufacture and at the same time versatile and flexible to equip member countries' flight departments. The Fiat G-91 was in fact used by the Italian Air Force but also by Germany and Portugal. Armed with four 12.7mm machine guns in the "R" version. Installed in the muzzle could carry an offensive load of 700 kg in the sub-wing pylons.
